Women's Golf Victoria offers 34 events on its annual Tournament Calendar. WGV coordinate and deliver various State Championships, teams and pairs events catering to all levels of playing ability. 

WGV also supports and raises money for charity organisations such as the Royal Women's Hospital and Foundation for Young Australians within our tournament program.

Day 2 - Lambert wins claims another Victorian title

Congratulations Sienna who won with a 2 round total of 139 from Britney (Heathcote) 140.  Millie Cumming (Mansfield) won Division B with a 2 round total of 169 on a countback from Mary Fenech (Grampians).  Heather Hay (Parklands) won Division C with a total of 176 - scoring that saw her take home just about every event possible during the tournament. 

The overall nett event was won by Heather Hay with a 2 round total of 108, whilst Debbie Nicholls (Inverleigh, 17) won the 36 hole nett in Division A 124, and Mary Fenech (Grampians, 25) with 119 in Division B.  

A big thank you to Grange for its magnificent hosting of this wonderful event.  All are now looking forward to taking on Charlton in 2012!

Day 1 - Grange welcomes 125 sand scrapes players 

The competition got underway this morning, Tuesday 13 September following a great party to start the tournament at Grange Golf Club on Monday night – and whilst a chilly start, the sun came out for the afternoon's field. Grange Golf Course is in the most magnificent of condition and congratulations must be given to the Club for their excellent presentation and the wonderful hospitality shown to all players and Golf Victoria representatives.


The scoring on day one was strong with many of the players in Division A shooting scores in the 70's. Sienna Lambert (Cohuna), with a handicap of 4, and on recently rated Grange GC, has shot the new course record of 70. Others showing strength on Day 1 included Helen Leech (Neangar Park – 8) with 72 and Britney Mueck (Heathcote – 5) 73. Kaye Skinner (Stawell – 18) had an incredible 79 gross to be leading Division A Nett competition with 61.


Division B saw an outstanding nett 57 from Joy Cronin (Chalambar – 26) whilst leading the gross in this grade Joy also leads with 83. In Division C another nett 57 from Heather Hay (Parklands – 34) whilst the leading gross score was by Jenny Crawford (Grampians) and Mary McCallum (Parklands) who both had very strong 90s.
Tonight the women will enjoy further hospitality at Grange with a wonderful spit roast dinner.  Click here for first round results

The Victorian Sandgreen Championship is a 36 hole scratch stroke event open to amateur players who hold a Golf Australia Handicap at an affiliated club, not exceeding 35 at the date of entry.

The Sandgreen Championship is a popular event and the field often reaches capacity prior to entries closing.

WGV awards trophies in the following categories:

  • 36 Hole Gross winner
  • 36 Hole Nett winner
  • 18 Hole Gross winner (daily)
  • 18 Hole Nett winner (daily)

As part of the Sandgreen Championship, all players are invited to attend a welcome party on the eve of the opening round,between 5.00-6.30pm  and a tournament dinner following the completion of Round 1.  Tickets for the tournament dinner will be available at The Welcome Party at a cost of $30 to be held at Avenel Memorial Hall at 7.00pm.
