Royal Women's Hospital State Final - Metropolitan GC
16 September
The combination was perfect – great weather, a magnificent golf course and a group of enthusiastic golfers keen to win this State title. This 4 Ball Best Ball competition is run through the year - firstly at club level followed by District level. It culminated today with every District's winners and runners up participating. The scores were excellent considering Metropolitan GC is a challenging course. The Runners up were decided on a count back with Jo Reeves (33hcp) and Suzy Phillips-Lemon (40 hcp) from Shepparton GC taking the position on a count back over Margaret Myers (16 hcp) and Nita Pendrey (19 hcp) from Box Hill GC. The Women's Golf Network's amazing score of 50 points was more than enough to take this year title. Congratulation to Victoria Bennett (28 hcp) and Charlotte Paton (44 hcp) on their great achievement!
Special thank you to Dr. Zipi Ben Harim from RWH for her informative talk about pelvic floor health, to GV volunteers, to Metropolitan GC and to all the players who participated right through the year for making this event so profitable and successful.

Charity Day - Woodlands GC
27 May
An early shotgun start, calm weather conditions and a magnificent golf course were the key ingredients in what ended up being a fantastic day for the participants in this charity day. This is the third consecutive year for this event that has now raised more than $150.000 for the Pelvic Floor Unit at the RWH. That amount places Golf Victoria ahead of donors such as the Myer Foundation, The Mann Family and others. Golf Victoria is still a bit behind the Pratt Family’s foundation but, doubtless with the support and generosity of these women we will eventually catch up! Money raised from this event contributes to the training of pelvic floor specialists. This is very much appreciated by the many women who suffer with related issues. Dr. Ruchi Singh was the guest speaker and gave us a very informative overview of the importance of the research and training in pelvic floor area.
Woodlands Golf Club was second to none! They not only on suppled a fantastic lunch but also generously donated all the green fee proceeds to Golf Victoria. Thank you Woodlands! Tassal, one of the major sponsors for the day, was very involved. They set up a testing station and supplied smoked salmon packages as prizes for the event. Thank you to Tassal and to the many other sponsors who took part. Click here to see sponsors list.
Yarra Yarra GC was well represented with Nita Kino (15 hcp) and Pearl Nissen (35 hcp) taking top honours with 44 points in the 4 BBB competition while Heritage members Tessa Fraser (19 hcp) and Marlene Ayres (15 hcp) were runners up with 42 points. Congratulations ladies!
Sue Wooster took the Longest Drive and Nearest the Pin on the 5th. Other NTP were as follows: Elizabeth Morgan (8th hole), Robyn Hanson (11th hole) and Lisa Cochrane (17th hole). Well done to all of you!
Special thank you to the ladies committee who made this event possible: Amanda Derham (chair) Eileen Clark, Isobel Lucas, Mimi Ermert, Lou Learmonth, Thea Linley, Jane Jordan and Annie Perkings. Amazing effort from beginning to end! Finally, thank you to Golf Victoria volunteer Gabby Keating for help with golf operations. A year goes by quickly… so pencil this event into your diaries and tell your friends to make the 2012 RWH Charity Day the most attended one yet!
About
The Royal Women's Hospital was chosen, in our centenary year, as the beneficiary of the proceeds from this event. Money raised through entry fees and fundraising activities is directed to the Pelvic Floor Dysfunction unit, which is one of the least glamorous areas of research at the hospital. Our aim is to try and fund a three year scholarship to train another doctor in this area of women's medicine.
In 2006, WGV's then President Judy Onto presented a cheque totalling $40,650 to Dr Marcus Carey from the RWH. WGV raised this amount via entry fees from over 9000 women who played in the 2006 RWH 4BBB event, and through the sale of WGV Address Books, to mark 100 years of women's golf in Victoria.

Eligibility
(a) Open to any female amateur golfer holding an official Golf Australia handicap at an affiliated WGV club or Victorian Women's Golf League club.
(b) The maximum handicap limit is 45 strokes per player at the time of Stage 1 (Club Qualifying).
Trophies
Trophies will be awarded to the winner and runner up in the State Final.
