Women's Golf Victoria offers 34 events on its annual Tournament Calendar. WGV coordinate and deliver various State Championships, teams and pairs events catering to all levels of playing ability.

WGV also supports and raises money for charity organisations such as the Royal Women's Hospital and Foundation for Young Australians within our tournament program.

Country Teams' Matches

North Eastern comfortably take title honours

North Eastern District enjoyed a tight tussle in its final match of the 2009 Country Teams Matches at Patterson River Golf Club to hang on and win the Division 1 Alice Coltman Cup comfortably.

North Eastern played Ballarat in its final round and on paper looked the easy victor, however the less fancied Ballarat combination won two matches and halved 2 to go down just 4-3.

However it was all incidental as North Eastern could not be beaten on the final day, finally wrestling the title from the Mornington Peninsula District who had a stranglehold on it for the past 3 years.

Western District will be promoted to Division 1 next year after an exciting finish to its Division 2 campaign.

Western took the Division 2 Alice Coltman Cup by 1 match and just 1/2 a game from South Gippland.

In Division 3, East Gippland enjoyed an undefeated run through its matches to take the Cup donated by the late Mrs L. Carstairs. Rival West Gippsland finished a match and 2 1/2 games back in second place.

North Eastern poised to take the mantle from Mornington Peninsula

North Eastern District will take an unassailable lead into the final round of Country Teams Matches at Patterson River Golf Club.

Mornington Peninsula has won the past three Division 1 Country Teams trophies, however has the bye in the final round and no other team is in a position to topple the talented North Eastern combination.

North Eastern have won all 3 of its matches and will play the struggling Ballarat line up which has won just one of its three matches so far.

Division 2 is a much closer affair, with South Gippsland just half a match ahead of Western heading into the final day of play.

All barring a couple of major upsets and East Gippland in Division 3 look on track to win that title.

About

The Country Teams' Matches is a three day tournament played across various Metropolitan Clubs. The teams are selected from players in each of the 15 Country Districts across Victoria. The matches are played in three divisions with promotion and relegation.

The winning team from each Division will be presented with the "Alice L. Coltman Cups" which were donated by the late Mrs O.H. Coltman. The Division 3 Cup was donated by Mrs L. Carstairs.
