Victor Victoria ... sandbelt club runs away with Bronze Team's Trophy

An outstanding round of 44 points from Victoria's Janet Buxton set her team up for a runaway victory in the 2009 Bronze Team's Stableford Event at Beaconhills Country Golf Club.

Janet's partners Alison Champion (36 pts) and Jan Tootell (37 pts) combined for a team total of 117 points, 8 points clear of the next best team The Sands on 109.

A clear winner in the individual stableford event with 44 points, Janet's nearest rival was Berwick-Montuna's Carol Ronalds with 39 points. Carol finished runner-up in the individual event after surviving a three-way countback from Royal Melbourne's Jane Daish and Elwyn Thom from The Sands.

The prestigious Bronze Teams event is exclusively for 19-38 handicappers, representing their clubs in teams of 3. Beaconhills CGC this year enjoyed two full shotgun start fields, was in superb condition and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone in attendance.

About

The Bronze Teams' Stableford Event was first played in 1967 and was won by Yarra Yarra. The event was introduced to provide higher handicap markers the opportunity to play in a State level event. Each Club may enter a team of three players with handicaps ranging from 19 to 38 inclusive.

The team with the highest aggregate points will be presented with the Cup whilst the best and second best individual scores will receive trophy orders.
