SOUTHERN SHINES FOR BRONZE TEAMS
With one point separating winner and runner-up,
Played on the sensational course that is the Southern Golf Club, the 50 team field began a fun-filled day of laughs, tears, triumphs and challenges in the name of golf. With the competitors divided into morning and afternoon fields, fantastic golf could be seen throughout the day.
Early on it was evident that a battle was on hand with many of the competitors' scores in close range to one another. With the morning ladies finished and mingling over lunch, the morning results were tallied. Elizabeth Poort from
Whilst some ladies in the afternoon found the course a slight challenge, requiring the use of their sand wedge on more than one occasion, only smiles could be seen from all those that participated. The afternoon field finished up in the evening, and while the ladies discussed their triumphs and tribulations from the day the scores were counted.
With a score of 98
Best Stableford Score for the afternoon field was taken by Tina O'Brien of Box Hill, with Handicap of 35 and score of 40 points.
Congratulations to all winners on the day and a big thank you to all the players who participated in the tournament and made the day such an enjoyable one for all involved.
Special thanks to Southern Golf Club's Ladies President Judith Giraud and Ladies Captain Irene Wyld for all their help on the day and prior to. Recognition must also be given out to committee members Lee Wills, Dawn Nagel and Nicki Charman for their tireless effort on day.
About
The Bronze Teams' Stableford Event was first played in 1967 and was won by Yarra Yarra. The event was introduced to provide higher handicap markers the opportunity to play in a State level event. Each Club may enter a team of three players with handicaps ranging from 19 to 38 inclusive.
The team with the highest aggregate points will be presented with the Cup whilst the best and second best individual scores will receive trophy orders.
