Gladys Hay Interstate SeriesFriday 29 August, 2008From September 1 - 5 the 2008 VictorianState Team will contest in the Gladys Hay Interstate Series at Pymble Golf Club, NSW.![]() The team (consisting of Clare Choi, Stacey Keating, Grace Lennon, Stephanie Brennan, Elissa Orr and Breanna Elliot) has been preparing diligently for the series over the past two months. Stacey Keating wins Canadian Amateur ChampionshipFriday 29 August, 2008Stacey Keating has won her first international championship claiming the 2008 Royale Cup Canadian Women's Amateur Championship on Friday at the Elmhurst Golf & Country Club in Winnipeg, Canada.![]() Keating shot an impressive 3-under par, finishing with a four day total score of 285 to defeat defending champion and national amateur team member Stephanie Sherlock of Barrie, Ontario by three strokes. Sherlock claimed second place with her even par 288, while Alejandra Llaneza of Mexico City, Mexico rounded out the tournaments top three at one-over, 289. "This is the biggest event I've ever won and it feels amazing," said Stacey. "I thought about playing it safe and just laying it up on 18 but I decided that wouldn't be much fun, and it ended up working out for me." Following her win, Stacey made quick adjustments to her travel plans to accommodate the addition of the 2008 CN Canadian Women's Open into her playing schedule. Keating's victory earned her an exemption into Canada's only LPGA event to be held August 11-17 at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. |
2008 Country Championship of VictoriaFriday 11 August, 2008Judy Langford has won the 2008 Country Championship of Victoria 2/1.After being 2up after 9 holes, Sue Wooster fought back to get it back to square after 13 holes. Langford however took charge winning the 15th and 16th holes to be dormie going down the 17th hole. Squaring the 17th hole was enough for Langford to win the 2008 Country Championship of Victoria.
